  • Friday

Today started out with my usual Friday writing class, except this one was in Sun Lakes, because we've been staying there while Mom is gone.  Then, we packed up and headed over to Arizona Mills to meet Dad for lunch, after which we headed over to South Mountain Park for a hike. It's very pretty there, and much rock-climbing ensued.  Midway through, the sandals I had put on that morning in ignorance of our hike, broke.  That, of course, cut our hike short, and we turned around and got back to the car as quickly as possible.  When we got home, we had about an hour's respite, and then Dad and Jacob headed over to Karate, while I cut vegetables and tried my first foray into the realm of steak-cooking.  It idn't turn out bad at all, and now it is simmering in the pan with the veggies, wafting a delicious aroma around the house, while we expect Dad and Jake home in about five minutes or so.
Now I'm off to wrap presents, for a birthday party/baby shower on Sunday....

    young-girls-daybook-photo

    Outside my window...
The sky is bright, the grass is green, (well, not really)

    I am thinking...
    About homework.

    I am thankful for...
GM and GP's safe trip to AZ.

    From the learning rooms...
GB class today, then an essay.

    From the kitchen...
Our coffee-pot broke! Now I am going to go into coffee withdrawal, unless we can figure out a temporary solution.

    I am wearing...
    Concordia t-shirt, and jeans.

    I am creating...
I just finished my jean-skirt!!!!! YAY!!!!
    (pictures forthcoming..later today, I think)

    I am going...
    Nowhere special...

    I am reading...
The History of the Ancient World, by Susan Wise Bauer,
    history
    and
    Brisingr, by Christopher Paolini
    BRISINGR

    I am hoping...
    Nothing comes to mind...

    I am hearing...
Phantom of the Opera music from Megan's computer.

    Around the house...
    The printer is humming.

    One of my favorite things...
My new glasses! They are purple, except the front of the frames, which is black.  And they have purple lines and sparklies on the sides.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Getting back to our normal routine...

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...
Her Majesty, Queen of the Heidmann Household, Sissy Jupe, looking every inch of her title.

Take Me Out To The Ranch

    RANCH

Take Me Out To The Ranch
Sung to the tune of 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame'

Take me out to the Ranch,
Take me up to St. Johns.
Buy me some hotdogs and Coca-Cola,
I don't care if I never get back!
Let me play, play, play at the Ranch,
    If I must leave, it's a shame.
For it's the best place in the world,
    AT! THE! RANCH!!!!

    A Young Girl's Daybook, October 19

    young-girls-daybook-photo

    Outside my window...
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and its not even 70 yet! Today is a good day.

    I am thinking...
of words. WOORDS! WOERDS!! (a Hamlet quote)

    I am thankful for...
The many blessings we enjoy every day.

    From the learning rooms...
Today is the first Monday since I started highschool that I will not have to work all day on homework because I neglected it earlier in the week! Of course, that leaves me at somewhat loose ends...

    From the kitchen...
Pumpkin Spice coffee! I love fall.

    I am wearing...
Jeans, and a shirt with elvish sleeves.

    I am creating...
Have to wait till the next Hobby Lobby trip to get more Snowflake Bluebell yarn, and I'm somewhat impatient, because I really want my project to be finished!

    I am going...
Nowhere. My life is full here at home.

    I am reading...
Re-reading Arthur, the third book in the Pendragon Cycle, by Stephen R. Lawhead.

    arthur

    I am hoping...
All my wishes are fulfilled (except for that nagging chant in the back of my brain that says "Hobby Lobby! Hobby Lobby!"

    I am hearing...
The radio, and various kitcheny noises.

    Around the house...
Tidy, and full of children and dogs in various states of morning exuberance or exhaustion.

    One of my favorite things...
The band Journey! I've heard lots of their songs, and each time I hear another one, I like them more and more.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
School, Karate, School, Karate, blah blah blah

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

    My favorite flower, delphiniums!

    Ode to Del Taco
    by Jacob

Del Taco is my favorite place,
I love to sit and feed my face,
And afterward I climb and play
And talk and laugh and bob and sway.

The chicken tacos are the best
I can take or leave all the rest.
If I don't get my Taco Teusday
I'll feel as if my heart was bruised, eh?
